From my first day in office, environmental justice has been an important focus of my work. We’re facing an uncertain future thanks to climate change, and that uncertainty is even worse for marginalized communities who have had little say in—but feel the biggest impact from—how we address our energy and environmental needs.
This is why I stand with fellow Democrats in opposing the Mountain Valley Pipeline. It will increase carbon emissions in Virginia and pollute farms and rural communities. At more than 300 miles long, this fracked gas pipeline threatens family farms, indigenous sites, wells, waterways, and the air and soil that surround them. Multiple pollution violations have already been brought against the pipeline, and more are sure to come if we allow it to continue.
