There is a lot of buzz lately about how precarious Democrats' Senate 50/50 majority is.

It's true -- 2022 is going to be tough for progressives at the federal level. The best way we have to inoculate against a potential GOP majority is to lock in Democratic governors. And the good news is, we have a real chance to do that here in Maryland -- if we can hit our critical end-of-month goal.

Tom is the proud son of immigrants from the Dominican Republic who paid his way through college working on the back of a garbage truck. He started out as a civil rights prosecutor at the Department of Justice where he took on racism and police brutality, and he served as the first Latino president of the Montgomery County Council before becoming Maryland’s Secretary of Labor.

Then, after serving as Maryland’s Secretary of Labor, he rebuilt the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice and joined President Obama’s cabinet as Secretary of Labor to fight for workers.

Tom is a fighter for progressive values, but he doesn’t get weighed down by partisan bickering and name calling. He’s a hard worker, who is committed to ensuring that all Marylanders have a fair shot to get ahead and stay ahead.

These things will all still be true no matter which party has the Senate majority next year, and that’s exactly why we need to double down on our efforts to elect him as Maryland’s next Governor. We’re looking to bring in $15,000 before midnight on Tuesday to keep us on track toward our November fundraising goal.
