![]() Message from NARAL President Mini Timmaraju It’s been just two weeks since I took the helm of NARAL Pro-Choice America. And thanks to NARAL’s 2.5 million members who continue to contact lawmakers, speak out on social media, show up at rallies, and support our organization financially, my gratitude for our movement has only grown.
Two days from now, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case that poses the most grave threat to Roe v. Wade in 50 years—Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The Court, led by its anti-choice supermajority, could absolutely overturn Roe as a result of this case. If that happens, around half of the states in the country are poised to ban abortion, cutting off access to abortion care for millions of people. Most significantly affected by this shockwave of bans will be people who already face discriminatory obstacles to healthcare: women, Black, Indigenous & other people of color, the LGBTQI+ community, immigrants, young people, people with disabilities, and those working to make ends meet.
Meanwhile, over the last two weeks, two verdicts in closely watched court cases have reminded us of the interconnected challenges we face. The lack of accountability for Kyle Rittenhouse was a devastating blow, compounding our collective grief and leaving us painfully short of any semblance of justice or safety for our communities. And while I know so many of us are grateful for the shred of justice Ahmaud Arbery’s killers will face, no verdict can bring back Ahmaud and the countless others killed as a result of white supremacy, violence, prejudice, and hate.
We must continue to work towards true justice, dismantling racism and racist systems—and that includes fighting for reproductive freedom for every body. Wednesday's Nationwide Day of Action
NARAL Pro-Choice America is so proud to be a part of a nationwide day of action on Wednesday, December 1 as our movement rallies together for reproductive freedom and abortion access.
Don’t miss your chance to unite with NARAL members and supporters across the country as we make clear that we are the majority who support reproductive freedom and we’re not backing down. The Senate must pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) to safeguard the right to abortion for every body—even if Roe is overturned. NARAL's Annual Membership Meeting
As we head into a new year and say goodbye to 2021, we want to take a moment to talk to our NARAL members about where we’ve been this year and what's ahead in 2022.
We Need WHPA Now!
In two days, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case dealing with Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges Roe v. Wade. There is no path for the Court to uphold Mississippi’s abortion ban without overturning Roe’s protections.
With abortion rights and access on the line like never before, the Senate must pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), a bill that would protect the right to abortion throughout the country—even if Roe is overturned.

This month, the reproductive freedom majority in the House of Representatives passed the Build Back Better Act—historic legislation that includes significant investments in paid leave and maternal health, among many critical provisions. Guaranteeing paid leave and addressing maternal healthcare inequities is crucial to achieving true reproductive freedom. Now it’s up to the Senate to take immediate action to pass the Build Back Better Act with paid leave included and bring us one step closer to reproductive freedom for every body.
