In the previous emails I talked about Free Healthcare and Rent-Free America. Today I'd like to introduce you to my third organization - Legalize Happiness.
Cannabis Legalization already has a massive amount of momentum behind it in Texas, though we have only made a little leeway in legalization here. But while people are fighting hard to end the war on drugs, many have lost sight of what's really important.
Many advocate for legalization because of medicinal benefits, and while those benefits are great, they should not be a requirement to legalize something. We need to recognize that it is a human right to be able to consume cannabis, whatever the effects.
In the Declaration of Independence, the right to pursue happiness was understood and declared as an unalienable right. The US Constitution obliges the government to protect that right with the 9th amendment. This is of utmost important, because without recognizing this as a fundamental human right, we are positioning ourselves to only be granted privileges from government when it serves limited, specific purposes. If something is a right, and it can be done without harming anyone else or interfering with their freedom, we should not be justifying it.
Other activists will demonstrate how much the state can benefit from legalizing and taxing cannabis. But once we establish that growing, possessing and consuming cannabis is a human right, there can be no taxes. The Supreme Court has held repeatedly that rights can not be converted into privileges and charged fee or tax to exercise. Arguing that the state can make money off of this basic human right is like asking us to buy back our freedom. Our rights unalienable. That means they were never taken away from us, but that the state has chosen to oppress us with fines and imprisonment for exercising them. This is exactly the sort of behavior that a free society should resist. We should demand our rights and we should no give in to their attempts at extorting us for them.
With this organization, we will work hard to shift the mainstream narrative to recognize the consumption of cannabis as a human right. We will use this infrastructure to help elect candidates who support these ideas, and to pressure elected officials to endorse this platform.
This is all part of the greater strategy to have a world set free in our lifetime. But I can't do this without your help. We still have quite a way to go to meet our $3750 filing fee goal and our $10k launch goal.
