Earlier this month, I attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow. And I have to say, I was pretty shocked by what I saw: The fossil fuel industry had the largest delegation in attendance with over 500 people present. As you know, fossil fuel emissions cause global warming, which has devastating impacts here in California. Everything from wildfires, to droughts, to oil spills can be traced back to our dependency on fossil fuels. We must end the grip that this industry has on our economy and transition to sustainable, green energy. COP26 made it clear that the world is looking to us -- California -- to become global leaders in innovative climate policy. As the world’s 5th largest economy, we have the know-how and resources to accelerate the environmental movement through innovation and legislation. The only thing we don’t have is the political will. That’s why in 2022, we are focused on electing bold leaders who are unafraid to take on special interests and work to pass critical legislation both here in California and in Washington DC to address the climate crisis. This year’s Giving Tuesday is pivotal in making sure we accomplish our objectives. This is our last, best decade to achieve meaningful change to avert the climate crisis. That’s why we set a goal of securing a special donation from 50% of our contributing membership by Giving Tuesday -- and we’d be honored if you would help us get there. Our power comes from grassroots supporters just like you. We truly can’t do this without you: Please make an early Giving Tuesday gift today → |
