Along with my colleagues, I’ve been working to move the issues forward that everyday people in Washington care about- access to healthcare, affordable housing, and security in the face of emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic. Many hard-working families have been impacted by the pandemic and are afraid of losing everything they’ve worked to build. That’s why I led the effort to pass Senate Bill 5408 last session, ensuring the average family home is protected in the event of bankruptcy. Bills like these help more families stay in their homes when faced with financial catastrophe.
When hard times hit, Washingtonians look out for one another. I know that well, which is why I worked to pass bills to protect workers from harmful chemicals and extend unemployment benefits during the pandemic. But we’re not done yet. I’m heading into this session ready to go and ready to fight for an economy that works for everyone in Washington. It’s been a tough couple of years with some challenges still left to face, but we’re turning a corner, and together we can keep moving our home state forward.
