Dear John, When I think back on the hundreds of thousands of people we’ve supported to obtain their voter ID in recent years, I’m struck by how each and every one of them now has their own unique story to tell – like Laura from Columbus, Georgia. Laura was staying at a women’s shelter when we met her at the inaugural VoteRiders Voter ID Clinic sponsored by AFLAC and hosted by Open Door. Laura needed to obtain a Georgia ID, not only so she could exercise her right to vote, but also to secure employment and housing. We were able to leverage Laura's old out-of-state ID to make an appointment for her with the Georgia Department of Driver Services. Before that all-important meeting, we reviewed the documentation she would need to be successful with her. This person-to-person experience helped Laura feel confident when going to her appointment – and she is now the proud holder of a Georgia ID. We also know that Laura is on her way to stable employment, housing, and a better life. Hearing Laura’s story inspired my gratitude yet once again to our supporters such as yourself, without whom her struggles would have continued. Because of you, we are helping registered voters every day to secure their voter ID and pursue their happiness. We deeply appreciate you! That’s why I’m asking you to take part in our Giving Tuesday matching challenge, so we can multiply these stories of meaningful support! Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, but you can give today so the right to vote is guaranteed for every voter. Gratefully, Kathleen and the VoteRiders Team. | |
