More than one-third of LGBTQ Americans live in the South – yet studies show that less than 10% of social research on LGBTQ people focuses on Southerners. By collecting these data we can fill gaps in our collective understanding of the community and tell a richer, more vibrant story about LGBTQ Southerners, including the obstacles they face, the resilience they demonstrate, and the resources they need to live full and healthy lives.
This Survey is the launch project of our Southern Equality Research and Policy Center, which aims to expand our capacity to conduct independent research and develop policy recommendations to promote equality among LGBTQ people in the South. We’re grateful for our partners at Campus Pride and Kenyon College for their support, for grassroots partners across the country who are amplifying the Survey, and for our Survey ambassadors, who are getting the word out in their home communities.
If you live in the South and identify as LGBTQ, please take the survey and make your voice heard. Get your responses in before Tuesday night by clicking here and choosing to take the Survey in English or in Spanish.
Thank you,
The Campaign for Southern Equality Team
