John,
It's official. Last week, Governor Pritzker signed the new congressional map into law.
With these new maps in place, we know we've got a tough primary fight ahead - and I need your help.
As someone born and raised on Chicago's Southwest Side and a lifelong resident of its surrounding south and western suburbs, fighting for workers, small businesses, and the middle-class in these communities is in my DNA, and that fight is not going to stop now. I am so pleased to connect our coalitions in Cook and DuPage counties so that we can continue our good work together.
Already, we've seen an immense amount of support on the ground in the new IL-06. Earlier this month, 10 suburban mayors and village presidents endorsed our campaign, including the mayors of Oak Lawn, La Grange, and Palos Hills. Last week, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Illinois Council endorsed us -- which means the world to me as someone who has spent decades fighting for workers and organized labor. But the biggest support I can receive comes from you all, my neighbors.
No matter how the district was drawn, know that I am running to represent the residents of Chicago's Southwest Side and our neighbors in DuPage and southwest Cook County, and I'll fight for real, everyday issues for you, all day long, every day, and twice and Sundays.
I've signed on to over 360 pieces of legislation -- five of which have been signed into law -- and been named the #3 most active freshman in Congress, all while solving complex problems on the ground like flooding issues, postal delays, and train blockages and delays.
This June, our primary opponent is going to have the backing of corporate mega-donors and the ultra-wealthy. Our campaign is entirely powered by grassroots donations from people like you.
Can you chip in to our grassroots campaign today so we're ready for a tough primary?
From our grassroots organizers to our door-knockers on the ground, our coalition is ready to deliver for the workers, working families, and communities of this new district. From Tinley Park to Elmhurst and everywhere in-between, I'm looking forward to working with everyone to build a stronger, more equitable future for our residents of the new IL-06.
I won't stop fighting for the people of the brand new IL-06. Can you chip in today so we're ready for the June primary?
- Marie
