Abortion case before Supreme Court

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, a day to support the causes and values you hold dear.

But it’s also the day before the Supreme Court will hear arguments on a new Mississippi law that bans almost all abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy.

For the first time since Roe v. Wade, the court will consider a pre-viability abortion ban. It’s a huge break in precedent. And it will be decided by justices that were put in place and supported by religious extremists.

This is the closest we’ve come to witnessing people’s rights to control their own bodies eviscerated.

We’re fighting to build a different kind of government. One that respects individual rights to bodily autonomy, abides by the separation of church and state and makes policy decisions based on science and reason, not religion.

But our ability to be successful depends on the support we receive from people like you.

This #GivingTuesday, will you support our work for a safer, saner, more secular government? Donate by midnight tomorrow and help us raise $10,000 to elect and support leaders who will champion humanist ideals. Even $5 can make a difference.

Tomorrow’s abortion case is what happens when religion is injected into our government. The rights of women, LGBTQ+ people, religious minorities, and nonreligious are trampled and threatened.

And if the recent elections proved anything, it’s that the dangerous appeal of Donald Trump’s White Christian Nationalist base is alive and well.

We’re working to counter these forces. Your #GivingTuesday donation of just $5 will help us to:

  • Support candidates across government that will speak out forcefully for science, reason, and compassion;
  • Organize the nonreligious community to counter the fanatical, anti-democratic religious right that wants to impose its narrow worldview on others;
  • Track and influence policy and legislation, to advance humanist principles in order to create a safer, saner, and stronger society;

John, our movement is growing. The number of people who identify as non-religious and who support a secular approach to government is higher than it’s ever been. Our job now is to organize ourselves as well as the religious extremists have.

I know with your support, we’ll be able to do just that.

With gratitude,

Ron Millar

Political Coordinator

P.S. Make your $5 donation today and it will count towards our $10,000 #GivingTuesday goal.
