Successful day of action in October
day of action
*The Lenton and Wollaton East Day of Action on 13th October was organised in partnership with the Nottingham Crime and Drugs Partnership, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology, NHS, The Lenton Centre and Futures For You.*
Teams tackled some key issues, with the council's Housing Licensing and Compliance Team inspecting shared properties and looking at garden, building and waste issues. Landlords were also engaged with and reminded of their responsibilities.
The Police, Community Protection, Fire & Rescue and the Universities joined us in talking about antisocial behaviour, waste management and safety in the Lenton Drives.
Meanwhile our Street Scene teams were deep cleaning some of our difficult areas and getting rid of graffiti across the ward.
Litter picking is a key part of the Council’s work and there are particularly difficult spots where it can be a real problem, for example around shopping areas, busy facilities and main roads. We really appreciate the work done regularly by our Clean Champions, who often go out in their neighbourhood to lend their support, leaving their purple bags by bins for collection.
On the day of action Councillors joined in with three litter picks, with Southwold Primary school children around Kennington Road, with Nottingham City Homes and local residents in Lenton Abbey and with a group of Clean Champions around the QMC entrance on Derby Road. Lilian Greenwood MP came along too and really enjoyed getting stuck in to the litter thrown from cars on the central reservation of Woodside Road!
*Thank you to everyone who came along and took part!*

Southwold Primary School doing Lenton & Wollaton East proud
day of action
* The Community Rangers from Southwold Primary School were also involved in the LWE Day Of Action. *
The children litter picked the play area on Kennington Road and left it spotless!
The enthusiasm for making a difference in the local area really shone through, they are a huge credit to the school and local community. The School and Council are now discussing the possibility of regular litter picks in the area, which is a fantastic idea.

christmas
Looking after your family this Christmas
Nottingham City Council’s Trading Standards team are asking Nottingham residents to be careful when buying presents for children:
* *Look for the CE or UKCA mark:* These symbols on the label or box mean the manufacturer has assessed the toy for safety
* *Button-batteries can kill:* Check they are screwed in firmly and safely before giving to a child
* *Check age restrictions:* Toys must be clearly marked with age restrictions - always follow them, they’re there for a reason
