Arboretum & Hyson Green Ward Days of Action

*Councillor Bryan joined Council officers, Nottingham City Homes staff, Nottinghamshire fire officers and the Nottingham Trent university Officers, knocking on doors and talking to residents in the Arboretum Ward ‘Days of Action’ on 12th  and 20th October.*

The  talked to residents about local issues and a number of awareness leaflets were given to residents for example how to report hate crime. The Fire service fitted free smoke alarms to several homes, conducted fire safety checks and Street Scenes carried out deep cleans on a targeted streets on both days.

The team covered Colville Terrace and surrounding Streets, Portland Road and Cromwell Street in the Arboretum on the 12th   October.  In the Hyson Green Area, Craven Road, Hovendon Gardens, Camomile Gardens, Pleasant Court Row/Court, Noel Street and Berridge Road were all targeted. The Police also participated by allocating 7 extra officers in the ward specifically targeting crime and anti-social behaviour.

Family Mentor Celebration

*Cllr Bryan in her role as Sherriff of Nottingham visited the Small Steps Big Changes (SSBC) Family Mentor Celebration at the Vine Community Centre on the 22nd of September.  *

The event successfully, show cased a number of the activities provided by the SSBC team like Jiggle & Wiggle, messy play and baby massage. Under 5’s were treated to free books to be read at home with their parents. 

SSBC- Family Mentor team run regular parent session at the Hyson Green boys club on Saturdays, in order to help parents with a variety of things and provide activities that help to reduce social isolation, such as arts and crafts, giving out free books and information about healthy eating, toothbrushing and more

FREE Bands in the Park Christmas concerts

Join us in our beautiful Green Flag award winning park for a *festive music concert from Hucknall and Linby brass band on 12 December at 2pm.*

Christmas lights are switched on!

The abstract tree was switched on at 4pm on a cold winters evening, by a year 10 student of St Joseph’s school. In attendance were both the Lord Mayor Cllr Trimble and Sheriff of Nottingham Cllr Bryan, Cllr Anne Peach, Cllr Pavlos and Cllr Roberts.

The young person won the privilege of switching on the lights, by designing the winning Christmas card, which the Councillors will use electronically.

* *Look for the CE or UKCA mark:* These symbols on the label or box mean the manufacturer has assessed the toy for safety
* *Button-batteries can kill:*  Check they are screwed in firmly and safely before giving to a child
* *Check age restrictions:* Toys must be clearly marked with age restrictions - always follow them, they’re there for a reason
