Hi, John: I'm Maisha, vice president of organizing at Brady. I came to this work because of the gun violence that changed my family forever. So the work we do – and the resources we need to do it – are fiercely personal to me. That’s why I need your help this Giving Tuesday.

Over a decade ago, my brother, Javad Fields, agreed to serve as a witness in court after surviving a mass shooting. Fifteen days after graduating from college, he and his fiancee Vivian were tragically shot and killed to prevent him from testifying – and it shocked me to my core.

My brother's murder led me to Brady because I knew they didn't just offer empty words. We’re fed up and fired up – and we’re making change happen. Brady is a grassroots organization led by survivors who are taking action every day: working across Congress, courts, and communities to pass the gun safety legislation we know will save lives. So when you donate tomorrow on Giving Tuesday, every dollar will fuel the work of our legal experts, youth leadership programs, democracy teams, and educators in communities, all working to build a world without gun violence.

But achieving these goals depends on resources — which is why rare match opportunities like this one are so urgent. We're still short of our $125,000 goal, and this match expires at midnight tomorrow! I have to ask, because this is our biggest fundraising day of the year, and we're really counting on you: Can you donate $25 or more right now — it will be DOUBLED to $50! — to power Brady's life-saving work to end gun violence? Every dollar could mean a life saved, so please, give now.
