Never underestimate moms, folks -- we know how to get things done.
I’m going to tell you what that means for our race to make NC-14 blue. But first, I have to ask if you’ll chip in $25 or whatever you can before our fast-approaching end-of-month deadline tomorrow at midnight.

My wife, Meghann, and I are both working parents, which I’m sure many of you know plenty about. The morning starts early with getting jumped on by kiddos who are ready to play and immediately eat breakfast. We get them off to daycare and school and then the work day begins.
When I’m campaigning, that means I’m off knocking on doors, talking to folks across WNC, and working with our team to make sure we’re hitting our weekly fundraising goals. I also have a job as Director of the Campaign for Southern Equality and my duties as a County Commissioner.
Evenings are wild...getting dinner on the table, cleaning up the tornado created by dinner, the twins bathed and in bed, playing board games and reading or watching some cartoons with Calvin, trying to find a few minutes so Meghann and I can catch up and hear a little about each other’s days. Her days are just as full as mine, plus she is supporting me in this campaign, which means lots of evenings and weekends when I’m out at events.
Our campaign is rooted in these daily realities, it’s a family endeavor through and through. And I share all this because I know some version of this is what a typical day looks like for a lot of people in our district.
You’re always juggling, trying to figure out how to be in two places at once, trying to ignore how exhausting the past 18+ months have been because of the pandemic. And if daycare or schools closes unexpectedly, it’s all a scramble.
We need policies that support working families to make life easier, not harder. I believe we need universal childcare and strong investments into our education system for both teachers and students. We need better healthcare access so that our children can grow up safe and healthy. We need stronger gun safety laws so that not one more life is put at risk while attending school.
I’m not your typical candidate, friend. I don’t have the background that many politicians do. But I understand what Western NC families are going through because I’m going through it too.
That’s why I’m running for Congress and that’s what makes me the strongest candidate to pave a new path forward for our community -- but I can’t win this race without your help. Can I count on you to pitch in $25 or whatever you can before my end-of-month deadline tomorrow at midnight?
