Everyone knows the stakes in redistricting are incredibly high -- so much so that earlier this year, a group of 100 experts on democracies around the world warned that “our entire democracy is now at risk” thanks to Republican voter suppression and gerrymandering.
Here’s a quick recap of what’s happened in the process so far:
- FIRST Republicans in Texas passed highly manipulated maps that reduce the number of competitive districts and silence voters of color.
- THEN Ohio Republicans IGNORED a fair redistricting ballot measure overwhelmingly approved by voters, and instead chose to sign a highly partisan map that could give the GOP a 12-3 advantage.
- NOW it’s up to us to fight back! President Obama said that "If we don’t fight for fair maps now, we won’t have another chance until 2031."
We always knew Republicans would try to get away with this, friend. We’ve been preparing for it since our launch in 2017. We’ve notched some big wins since then, but what we’re able to accomplish over the next few months will be up to supporters like you.
