Hey John,
It’s time to Tax the Rich.
And we don’t mean your doctor or the lawyer down the street — we’re talking about the absurdly rich billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Warren Buffett, who, just for starters, paid only 3.4% of a combined $401 billion (billion!) between 2014 and 2018.
The average American making $70,000, on the other hand, pays 14% in taxes. Pretty messed up if you ask us!
Unfortunately, there’s no way whatsoever that we’re going to make the filthy rich pay their fair share while corporatists like Scott Franklin are in Congress. Make a donation of any amount now to help us change that and hold the rich accountable just like the rest of us.
The Build Back Better Act is in the hands of the Senate, which means we’re about to see just how far conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema (who Wall Street refers to as “Saint Sinema”) are willing to go to hold corporations and the super wealthy accountable. It’s no secret that every aspect of the Build Back Better Act (and more!) would be possible if the rich would just pay their fair share.
But here’s the thing: Whether or not it passes, this is likely Democrats’ last shot to get anything done before the midterms.
That means the fight for progressive policies that will help families, millennials, and everyone-else-that’s-not-a-corporation-or-billionaire will all depend on electing people who will stand up for working people in 2022.
So, we must make sure that we elect a strong Tax the Rich caucus — yes, we made that up, but you get the idea — in the 2022 midterms, so that we can deliver real help to the working people who need it most.
That starts by electing Eddie — will you make a donation of any amount now to help us do it?
