Friend: Earlier this year, Syria experienced its worst wave of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The need for care is rapidly outpacing the already-limited supply of oxygen.
We urgently need your support as we provide vital medical humanitarian aid to the people of northern Syria who are experiencing several devastating crises at once.
This COVID-19 outbreak is made worse by a critical, ongoing water crisis in northern Syria. A decrease in humanitarian aid funding for water and sanitation services has left more than 3 million people—many of whom are already displaced—with little-to-no access to clean water. In addition to the increased risk of COVID-19, MSF has seen an uptick of waterborne diseases in many places impacted by the reduced humanitarian aid spending.
This is one of the many consequences of Syria’s brutal 10-year war. MSF has been able to provide essential aid throughout the conflict, but the decrease in funding for humanitarian activities means we are increasingly reliant on our donors to ensure we can provide care where it’s needed most.
P.S. If your Giving Week gift and our email have crossed paths, we sincerely thank you for your generosity!
