[Image description] The #ProtectBlackDissent delegation of Black activists poses in front of the US Capitol Building, holding boxed carrying over 100,000 signatures meant for the FBI.Dear Friend,

MediaJustice and the #ProtectBlackDissent coalition just took Capitol Hill by storm. On Wednesday, our delegation of Black activists delivered a letter and petition to Congress, with over 100,000 signatures, urging them to expose the FBI's escalating improper surveillance of their communities.

This is what you helped make possible. The delegation, representing organizations nationwide, met with Congressional leaders to push them to subpoena the FBI and hold a hearing on the use of their fabricated “Black Identity Extremist” designation—as well as the ongoing conflation of white supremacist terrorism with Black dissent.

The open racism of the Trump administration is being further institutionalized right now through government-sponsored targeting of Black activists fighting for racial justice. Our petition delivery is the culmination of months of organizing, training, and litigation work resisting that surveillance across the country — including by you. Every petition signature and dollar donated brings us a step closer to government accountability and securing our digital civil rights.

Behind every Team MediaJustice success story is a community of donor activists providing essential funds. Will you join us today in keeping up the fight to #ProtectBlackDissent?

This is the moment to expose and end the historic targeting of Black communities in this country, which continues to have devastating consequences. MediaJustice and our Network members are responding to the FBI’s threat with grassroots organizing at the local, state, and federal levels. Our donors allow us to conduct research, collect stories, provide training, and even bring Black activists face-to-face with D.C. lawmakers.

In the coming months we will continue working with Congress and partner with MediaJustice Network members everywhere to demand justice and accountability from the FBI. Pitch in now to help us maintain the pressure.

In Solidarity,

Myaisha and the rest of Team #MediaJustice
