Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Murray, the Distributed Organizing Manager for the Booker campaign.
As Distributed Organizing Manager, my number-one priority for this campaign is to make sure that our campaign can reach as many Kentucky voters as possible — from the hood to the holler. Mobilizing folks next November to vote for Charles will require our team to build deep ties to communities throughout the Commonwealth, and build trust.
We’re building the largest organizing team Kentucky has seen and we’ve begun some of this exciting work already. But the truth is that in order to reach voters in all 120 counties of Kentucky, we will need to bring in significant resources.
That is why I wanted to reach out to you today for a favor: Will you chip in $12 or whatever you can afford to our campaign today so we can keep this work up? I’ll share more details about our organizing investments below.
Contribute $12
To give you an idea of how much it costs to run some of the plans that we have, here’s a quick overview by the numbers.
- $0.05: The price of reaching one voter in Kentucky. If you chip in $15, we’ll be able to reach 300 Kentuckians. Even $1.50 allows us to reach 30 Kentuckians who may have never heard of Charles Booker before.
- $15.28: The price of funding one voter registration team. Each of our voter registration teams get clipboards, pens, printed materials to share with voters, and training from our organizing team.
- $47.59: The price of gas to drive 395 miles — from the furthest point of Kentucky to the other. Our staff and volunteers will be doing a lot of driving to reach every corner of Kentucky to do our organizing work. Contributions from our grassroots team, of any amount, will literally fuel our work.
This may seem like a lot, and it is! That’s why we’ve already begun our organizing, because listening to communities and building trust takes time — and to do it right, we need the resources, starting now.
What we are able to invest from today through the rest of 2021 will have a huge impact on our success. So I have to ask one final time: will you please chip in $12 or whatever you can afford so we can fund our important organizing work?
Thank you for being a part of this team and this movement. I’m glad to have you on our side as we fight for the Commonwealth that we love so much.
Together,
Murray Huber
