Dear John.

Sunday, the president of the United States tweeted four Black and Brown
American congresswomen to "go back to their countries." Three of them are
natural born citizens, and the fourth is an immigrant and refugee whose
family chose America as home. These racist remarks against Black and Brown
women are dehumanizing and gross, and attempt to paint immigrants as
threats.

Racism is once again on the rise in this country, with hate speech and
white nationalist talking points regularly dominating the news cycle. At
Color Of Change, we stand in solidarity with Black and Brown women — we
champion their beauty, their diversity, their power, and their agency.

[ [link removed] ]Today, we’re asking you to support our continued work to hold
accountable the media and tech companies that are enabling the rapid
spread of hate speech, with a donation of $5.

In the past, our Media, Culture, and Economic Justice team has taken on
network advertisers to remove malicious voices in the media that spread
stereotypes, biases, and misinformation, and it has fought for policies to
slow the spread of hate online. The team has taken down Fox News’ Bill
O’Reilly and Glenn Beck for years of racist attacks, stopped A&E from
running a show normalizing white supremacists, and worked with the
Associated Press to stop using anti-migrant language in its
reporting. Thanks to the generous support of our members, our collective
power to change the media landscape has been proven time and again.

But this week's news cycle is proof that more work needs to be done to
hold the media and tech companies who enable the spread of racist hate
speech accountable. Whether it’s Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham on Fox
News giving oxygen to white nationalist talking points, or Twitter
allowing Donald Trump to direct hate toward sitting congresswomen, our
work to fight hate goes on. Help fund our Media, Culture, and Economic
Justice work as we continue to build this movement to protect the
political voice and representation of Black and Brown women.

Until justice is real,
