John – During his time in office, Donald Trump absolutely decimated one of our nation's most cherished institutions: the U.S. Postal Service.
And now, Trump's handpicked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has continued to wreak havoc by slashing services and intentionally increasing delivery times.
Trump has done so much damage to our country – but this hits me particularly hard. You see, these delays and budget cuts really hurt people in rural areas like Iowa, where so many of us are counting on the USPS.
Moreover, postal workers are a critical part of our communities here. I can remember seeing my mailman – Tony – covering his route in the days following the terrible derecho last year. Amidst downed trees and power lines, he told me about how a woman on his route broke down when he delivered her insulin. She didn't have a generator or any way to keep it cold – so Tony went home and brought her his.
You see, the USPS is a lifeline for those of us living in rural America: for services, for medications and to stay connected.
I know that you'll stand with me and our rural communities to protect the USPS. So I'm asking you to complete my survey and help me put grassroots pressure on Congress to take action and save this critical public institution. I still need another 108 responses before midnight, so please let me know:
Should Congress protect the USPS?

Thanks for speaking out.
