On Monday, President Biden announced that he is renominating Jerome Powell to lead the Federal Reserve, missing a big opportunity to nominate a climate chair.

While President Biden failed this important test on climate, it’s not a guarantee that Powell will serve another term. Jerome Powell still must be confirmed by the Senate, where he’s already lost three Democratic votes.

We need to act quickly so the Senate knows we won’t settle for another Powell term. That’s why we’re asking if you’ll write to your senators today and demand they vote ‘no’ on his nomination.

While this nomination is tough to swallow, remember this: A few months ago, an easy renomination and confirmation for Jerome Powell seemed inevitable.

Now, because everyday people are looking at the Federal Reserve and demanding better, Biden was forced to contend with other options and there were moments when the renomination of Jerome Powell wasn’t certain.

John, so far, three Democratic senators have committed to voting against Powell: Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, and Jeff Merkley of Oregon.

If we keep up our efforts, we have the chance to sink this nomination and get a Fed that prioritizes everyday people. So let Sens. Bob Casey and Pat Toomey know where they should stand on Powell by sending them a letter today.
