Giving Tuesday

Dear Friends,

You are invited to join NRCAT for a webinar on Humans Rights Day, December 10, as we join the international commemoration of the rights of all humans, regardless of race, class, gender, age, or any other status. This year marks the 73rd anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly, which declares that "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and human rights."

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY WEBINAR - REGISTER HERE

We are honored to be joined on Friday, December 10 at 1pm ET for a webinar featuring members of our newly launched U.S. Prisons Program Advisory Council. Come learn how these Council members are leading efforts to uphold human rights in their respective advocacy spaces and learn more about NRCAT’s work for the preservation of human rights in the coming year.

The conversation will be led by the Director of NRCAT’s U.S. Prisons Program, and solitary survivor himself, Johnny Perez, and will include:

NRCAT is also excited to debut during the webinar the first of 30 new interviews comprising a short film collection called "Humans Out of Solitary." These 1-3 minute interviews with survivors of solitary confinement in U.S. prisons highlight various themes around their experience both inside prison and on the outside. Their resilience in their daily lives now, along with the leadership they now contribute to society -- often working for or with nonprofit and social change organizations -- is truly an inspiration to all. These short films will be incrementally released by NRCAT throughout 2022 and we will share ideas for you to use them to educate and motivate your communities.

With my deepest respect and gratitude,

Johnny Perez
Director, U.S. Prisons Program
