On Tuesday, the Pro Life Campaign launched a report Ireland's Abortion Law: End the Silence and published findings of recently commissioned polls which show 89% of people support women being informed about alternatives before proceeding with an abortion, while 77% of the public back the abortion law being amended to ensure that babies who survive the abortion procedure are given medical care.
The PLC held Tuesday’s launch in anticipation of the Government’s upcoming three-year review of the abortion law. The review of the law is an extremely important opportunity for pro-life supporters to highlight and push for positive changes.
We are encouraging every pro-life activist to contact their local TDs and call on them to speak up for the proposals we’re putting forward which enjoy widespread public support as shown in the poll results. We’ve presented a comprehensive case in the document Ireland's Abortion Law: End the Silenceand urge everyone to read it before contacting their TDs.
We must remind politicians that the hundreds of thousands of voters who voted NO deserve to have their voices heard.
Sign Up here today to be part of this initiative and we’ll be in touch with you with more information and resources for contacting your TDs.

Pro-life group, the Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List is spending $2.5 million on TV and digital ads over the next few weeks to highlight the humanity of unborn babies as the US Supreme Court prepares to hear a case that could overturn the 1973 court ruling that legalised abortion across the United States.
One of the ads launched this week features Amy Miles who was born alive after surviving the abortion that was intended to kill her. In the ad, Amy says: "As somebody who survived an abortion, I want to tell the Supreme Court that my life mattered.”
Other ads from Susan B. Anthony List that will run in the coming weeks include a woman who was adopted, a doctor who regrets performing abortions, and a medic who cares for pregnant women and their babies.
In December, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Dobbs v. Jackson case that considers the Mississippi law that permits abortion up to 15 weeks.
New research published this week by the Charlotte Lozier Institute in the US shows that between 2002 and 2015 there was an over 500% increase in emergency admissions to hospital following chemical abortion complications.
The study also found that women who had chemical abortions had a 22% greater risk of an admission to an emergency department for any reason, and a 53% greater risk of an emergency department visit for an abortion-related reason.
Significantly, the study also found that many hospital visits for abortion-related complications were incorrectly logged as treatment for spontaneous miscarriage. It is reckless and dangerous for abortion providers to misrepresent the situation in this way when post abortion complications occur, but sadly is not uncommon.
A number of years back, State funded pro-abortion counsellors in Ireland were exposed for engaging in the same misreporting when they were caught on tape coaching women to lie to their doctors and say they had miscarriages if they presented at a surgery or hospital with post abortion complications. A file was referred to the DPP at the time following a Garda investigation but charges against the individuals involved were not pressed in the end.
