Dear John,
Every year the Fraser Institute ranks North American jurisdictions based on policies affecting oil and gas investment.
This year, no Canadian jurisdiction made the top ten. Investors flagged uncertainty concerning environmental regulations, regulatory duplication and inconsistencies, and the cost of regulatory compliance as major areas of concern in Canadian jurisdictions compared to US states.
Consider this: only 13% and 20% of respondents, respectively, indicated that environmental regulatory uncertainty in Oklahoma and Texas was a deterrent to investment. For Alberta, that number was 65%.
Saskatchewan was Canada’s top-ranked jurisdiction at 11th, while Alberta ranked 12th.
See where other Canadian jurisdictions placed by checking out the full study here [[link removed]]. And be sure to share the news on social media.
Stay safe,
Niels Veldhuis
President
