My thoughts on this Thanksgiving morning

This past month has been particularly painful for the people of Wisconsin.

Not only were we dealt the blow of a “not guilty” verdict in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, but we’ve also seen senseless violence tear through the Christmas parade in Waukesha, claiming the lives of innocent people in our community.

Thoughts and prayers are no longer enough. At this moment, our state and our country are crying out for real leadership. We need leaders who will speak up and out against violence, work to heal the divisions that have overtaken our society, comfort those who are grieving, and take action to unify Wisconsinites behind the principles of dignity, love, and mutual respect for all.

This Thanksgiving, I’m holding my family, friends, and loved ones a little tighter.
