Hi there --

The Hassan family has a long-standing tradition of gathering together to share gratitude and turkey each Thanksgiving. And thanks to vaccines and safety guidelines, I’m looking forward to sharing the holiday with our extended family this year.

While things have certainly improved from where our country was a year ago, we cannot let this year’s holiday come and go without reflecting on the challenges we’ve faced -- and acknowledging all that we have to be thankful for.

First and foremost, I am thankful for the resilience and flexibility that Americans have demonstrated as they grappled with the pandemic, adapted to new realities, and worked to take care of and protect each other. So I am grateful for the 195 million Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the brave children who have begun to receive vaccines, and for everyone who has already gotten their booster shot.

And Americans have urged each other forward, despite hardship and change, with an inspiring sense of purpose. That sense of purpose and determination helped spur Congress to complete the Bipartisan Infrastructure Package that will help people all over our country. I am particularly grateful that for New Hampshire, that means roughly $ 2 billion to help fix our bridges and roads, expand access to high-speed internet, provide clean drinking water and protect our coastal communities, among other things.

Lastly, people all across this country have continued the work of making our country a more inclusive and stronger place. So I’m also grateful for you, friend, for joining me in the fight to make life better for all Americans and Granite Staters. Thank you for all you do.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving.

With every good wish,
Maggie Hassan
