Leaf collection pile
Final leaf collection begins Nov. 29

The Village of Oswego will be extending the leaf collection one additional week for all collection zones. The Village's Public Works crews will begin a final pass through all zones the week of November 29.?All leaves must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday, November 29.? Crews are currently working on Saturdays and overtime to pick up leaves as quickly as possible.?

Leaves are also beneficial for lawns, plant beds and around trees and shrubs as a more environmentally friendly approach to disposal. For complete details on the Village's leaf collection program, including the collection map zones, visit www.oswegoil.org/leaves [ [link removed] ]

Shop small
Shop small, shop local this holiday season

Are you making your list and checking it twice? Don't forget to shop small on Saturday, Nov. 27, find great deals on unique holiday gifts, and keep your tax dollars local. When you spend $100 at a local shop, about $68 continues to circulate in the local community. That?s compared to just $14 spent at a national retailer, where profits go out of state. So support your community by shopping locally this holiday season!?

Christmas Walk logo
Hope to see you at Christmas Walk on Dec. 3!

All the most popular attractions will return after a year away, including the Toyland train, Santa?s reindeer, the Silent Emergency Vehicle Light Parade, the Village?s annual tree lighting production, ice sculptor Nate Johnson, the inflatable sled hill, and enjoy games, crafts, giveaways and prizes, all for free! The event is also a great chance to visit your favorite downtown stores and find the perfect Christmas gift. The event runs 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3.

Allied First Bank serves as the event?s presenting sponsor, making it possible to bring this free event for the enjoyment of all.

?We are so glad to continue to be a part of this holiday tradition,? said Ken Bertrand, bank President and CEO. ?Allied First Bank really takes pride in giving back to the community. We can?t wait to see you and your families on Main Street this year to celebrate the holiday season.?

The tree-lighting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Main and Jackson Streets and features live choral music from Bednarcik and Traughber Junior Highs. Plus, catch live entertainment from Oswego?s dance troupes and choirs at three different live entertainment locations throughout the event along with DJ John, who always makes the event extra lively.

Then, bring your wish list and visit Santa at his North Pole home away from home, Locked In Photography, 74 Main St. where photos will be taken and made available for download.

At 8:10 p.m., make way for the silent, illuminated emergency vehicle parade down Main Street brought to you by the Oswego Fire Protection District and featuring your favorite characters, including Christmas Tree Rex himself.

Holiday Drive Through returns on Dec. 10

Join us again on Friday, Dec. 10 at Venue 1012 for the return of the Holiday Drive Through. The event will feature illuminated first response vehicles, cheerful holiday scenes, your favorite characters, Santa himself and goody bags for each child in attendance as long as supplies last.
