Feeling Thankful in a Tough Year!
|
Let's be real -- it's been a tough year, dear readers.
As our state and our country continue to recover from the pandemic, we have been through a lot together. We have lost people, and we have welcomed brand new people to the world. On this day, the day before Thanksgiving, we are thankful for all the progress made for indigenous peoples across our country.
For us at the Colorado Democratic Party, we have been driven by the time, effort, and support given by all of you. So let's take a moment to say thanks!
To The Volunteers: Democracy is a team-sport, and you are the ultimate teammates. Thank you for the countless hours you put in every election cycle to ensure that we elect honorable candidates, with integrity, who will fight for working families.
To County, District, and Initiative Officers: There is no Colorado Democratic Party without you. Thank you for the time and leadership you have shown in your communities!
To Precinct Organizers: You are the future of the Colorado Democratic Party! Thank you for your tireless efforts to organize your communities and ensure that folks in your neck of the woods turn out for elections!
To CDP Staff: For all the countless hours you have put in beyond a normal 9-5 job. For all the blood, sweat, and tears you have shed to move Colorado forward. Thank you.
To Dem candidates & elected officials: It's thanks to you that we can still have faith in our politics and our democracy. You are on the frontlines, fighting the special interests and protecting working families. Thank you for everything you do.
And to everyone who cast a ballot, donated their time, talents, and treasure, fought the good fight... THANK YOU!
Remember, it's just like the late, great John Lewis said:
Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.

Virtual Town Hall on Passing Immigration Reform
|
Fixing our broken immigration system is a task that has flummoxed administrations from both parties for decades. While progress has been made to protect DREAMers and provide a path to citizenship, there is still a lot of work to be done. Too many immigrant families find themselves stuck in a system that just isn't working. Meanwhile, the rhetoric around immigration and refugees has become increasingly toxic, xenophobic, and divisive.
In the final edition of Colorado Conversations for 2021, we assemble community leaders, subject experts, and elected officials from different levels of office to discuss what ongoing efforts are happening, what else must be done, and why we must finally pass true immigration reform.

Join the Defenders of Democracy!
|
If 2021 showed us anything, it's that we are no longer a party divided between liberals and conservatives. We are divided between people who are pro-democracy, and people who are anti-democracy.
Anti-democracy Republicans in Colorado are desperate to claw back power, and they'll say and do anything to make it happen. They have dark money, but we have you. Will you become a Defender of Democracy by giving $5 a month?
Monthly donations enable us to be able to plan our budget ahead of time and ensure that we can pay our organizers and staffers to continue to defend democracy. Monthly donors empower us to plan our budget, and they ensure that we can fully fund our 2022 Win Plan.
Will you become a Defender of Democracy and chip-in just $5 a month?

This week's Volunteer of the Week goes out to Jane Goldman in Montrose County!
Hi There! My name is Jane Goldman and I live in Montrose County, a very rural part of the State where Republicans and Independents far outnumber registered Democrats. I'm originally from Michigan but have lived here with my husband Andy for the last 45 years.
I have been an active member in the Montrose County Democratic Party since 2004 and am currently one of several Precinct Organizer Coordinators. We at the MCDP are working tirelessly to build a vigorous Precinct Organizer roster in anticipation of 2022 Midterms and the 2024 General.
Want to volunteer and help elect Democrats across Colorado like Jane is doing? Click the button below to join our talent bank, and we'll get you plugged in!

As Colorado families celebrate the holidays, the Economy is Recovering and Getting Stronger under President Biden and Democratic Leadership!
|
It's no secret that under the former president's incompetent leadership, our country was vulnerable to a generational pandemic and healthcare crisis. As a result of his failures, our state and our country has faced the consequences in the form of a knocked-down economy and rising costs. Under President Biden and Democratic leadership, Colorado and the United States are getting back up and seeing a massive economic rebound -- just in time for the holidays!
- Jobless claims fell to a 52-year low — and decreased by more than 70% from this time last year — as more Americans get back to work. While the work continues to get Coloradans back to work in good-paying jobs, much progress has been made as jobless claims fell to the lowest rate seen since November 15, 1969. - Americans’ wages increased by over $300 billion in the second quarter, a massive revision of more than 50% from what was initially reported. “The report also saw a massive revision to the increase in wages and salaries, which rose $301.1 billion, an upward revision of more than 50% from the original estimate.” Click here to read more!
- Economic growth for the third quarter was revised up and economists expect blockbuster GDP growth through the end of the year. “The expectation is that the economy in the current October-December quarter could grow at the strongest pace this year, possibly topping 8%.” Click here to read more!
Also, important context from Senator Bernie Sanders' Staff Director, pointing out how corporate greed and price gouging is responsible for things becoming more expensive.
