John,
As we approach our second Thanksgiving in the midst of a pandemic, many of our Thanksgiving celebrations are going to feel a lot more “normal.” Thanks to vaccinations and over-the-counter rapid home COVID tests, we can keep safe while gathering with family and friends.
I’m excited to have family over for Thanksgiving this year, and I know Sam is excited to show his grandparents, aunt, and uncles what a delicious pumpkin pie he learned to bake last year!
I wanted to take a moment to share a few things I'm grateful for this year:
I'm thankful for my husband, David, and son, Sam. It is pure joy to come home to their hugs every weekend.
I'm thankful for the frontline workers who put their health at risk to meet all of our needs. I’m grateful to the nurses, doctors, hospital workers, and scientists who have helped keep us safe during this pandemic. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude for giving us the tools to fight this pandemic and for putting their own health, and their families’, at risk to preserve ours. I’m grateful for the educators and school staff who figured out how to help students learn and stay connected online, and are now happily back in the classroom. And I’m grateful to the firefighters and other community members who stepped up to get our communities vaccinated.
And, of course, I'm deeply grateful for all of you, John. Your support is the reason I have the opportunity to serve Washington's 8th District. I'm honored to have you with me as we work to lower prescription drug costs, protect reproductive health care, combat climate change, and give every child their best chance to succeed.
However you're celebrating Thanksgiving this year, I hope you'll join me in remembering all that we have to be grateful for.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving,
Kim
