We just filed our appeal against the Sackler family's lifetime legal shield from accountability for the devastation they caused as the owner of Purdue Pharma — the company that manufactured Oxycontin.
What do you think? When it enacted the Bankruptcy Code, did Congress intend to allow the owners of a closely held company to break the law for years, extract immense wealth from their company by doing so, and then escape all civil liability by putting their company, but not themselves, into bankruptcy?
Thousands of Washingtonians have been impacted by the opioid epidemic — and they are rightly outraged by the Sacklers’ attempt to avoid true accountability and keep their billionaire status.
Billionaires shouldn’t get to play by a different set of rules than the rest of us. That’s not fair.
My legal team will be in federal court in New York City on Tuesday fighting the Sackler family's legal shield. I will continue to update you on this important case.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Have a happy and safe holiday this week!
Bob
Starting December 11th — less than a month from now — Washington state law requires a mandatory “freeze” on all fundraising for state elected officials — including Bob. This freeze begins one month before the state legislative session begins and lasts as long as the legislature is in session. In other words, Bob cannot accept any campaign contributions from December 11th until next Spring. We turn off our donation page after midnight on December 10th, 2021 and return any donations that come in the mail — no exceptions!
Will you support Bob’s campaign by making a contribution right now?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately by clicking a button below. Otherwise, you will be redirected to a donation page.
