Friend,
What a year we’ve had. With you by our side, we’ve fought hard against this disastrous drug war. And we’ve been winning. We’ve been winning groundbreaking reforms that will help undo the drug war and save lives. Your support made these victories possible.
Thanks to you, this Thanksgiving there are so many things to celebrate. Here are four wins we are especially thankful for. |

We are thankful for reforms that stop treating drugs as a criminal problem. Last November, voters in Oregon approved a DPA led ballot initiative that ended criminal penalties for drug possession and dramatically expanded access to health services. Then in June, we introduced the Drug Policy Reform Act which would decriminalize drugs at the federal level and invest in alternative health-centered approaches.

We are thankful for significant steps towards marijuana justice. We fought hard to legalize marijuana the right way in New York, New Mexico, and New Jersey. Last December, the U.S. House of Representatives made history when they passed the MORE Act, DPA’s signature bill to effectively end marijuana prohibition and help repair communities most harmed by decades of brutal and unequal enforcement.

We are thankful for progress uprooting the drug war from daily life. As part of the Unlocking Higher Ed coalition, we successfully eliminated the “drug question” from federal forms that were used to deny financial aid to students. And we got Pell Grants reinstated for people who are incarcerated to pursue higher education.

We are thankful for supporters like you. This wouldn’t have been possible without you. You are a critical part of this movement. |
Let us know which DPA victories you’re most grateful for.
Thank you for your responses! And from all of us at DPA, thank you for your part in making this a successful year. Together, we’ll end this racist, unjust drug war once and for all.
