Justice. That’s what was finally served for Ahmaud Arbery and his family today when the jury found all three defendants guilty of murder.
While the verdict is a clear sign that racist dog whistles like “dirty toenails” and comparing Black pastors to Colonel Sanders did not work, this trial has exposed the dark underbelly of our criminal justice system and why we so badly need reform.
As a mother of 5 Black children, these issues hit close to home. That’s why, as an accomplished attorney and a Congresswoman for the Virgin Islands, I’m leading the fight to root out racism and fix these flaws in our criminal justice system.
We need to continue calling attention and seeking justice so that no family has to go through this pain. Will you please make a donation to support my efforts today?
