If the federal minimum wage had actually kept up with productivity, it would be $24 an hour right now.
However, the minimum wage has been stagnant since 2009.
No one in this country should be forced to find a way to live off of the abysmal current $7.25 minimum wage, especially as the cost of living has skyrocketed.
This isn’t just a problem for urban centers.
There is not a single state in the U.S. where a minimum wage worker can afford rent for a two-bedroom home because of the disconnect between the minimum wage and the cost of living.
Two-thirds of Americans support raising the minimum wage. It’s time Congress finally listened.
