Hi Friend,

It’s that time of year when we’re all getting ready to enjoy a special meal with loved ones and show some extra appreciation for family and friends. This week, I’m looking forward to smoking a few turkeys for me and my neighbors, watching some football, and camping with my grandkids -- because more than anything else, I’m ready to spend time together with the people I love.

A lot has changed since last Thanksgiving, and this year, I’m very grateful for my health, the health of my loved ones, and the opportunity we have to all celebrate together safely this year. I’m grateful that millions of Americans have had their COVID-19 vaccine and booster, so we can all enjoy the company of our families this holiday season.

It’s thanks to strong Democratic leadership in the White House that we’re able to enjoy a holiday season with a booming economy and more healthy Americans than at any point in this pandemic. President Biden and Democrats in Congress have delivered for working families this year -- passing the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, with Build Back Better’s boost for families on the way, too. Their leadership is something we can all be thankful for.

In other ways, Friend, I know it’s been a tough year to be a Texas Democrat -- fending off countless attacks on our most fundamental rights from Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans. From defending voting rights, to being there for our neighbors in the midst of the winter storm, we’ve been together in this Democratic fight all year long. I’m so thankful for our Texas Democratic family, and our allies across the country, for standing strong in the face of such adversity. We couldn’t have made it through this year without your support. It’s not always easy to stay in this fight, but it’s the resilience of folks like you that I’m most thankful for.

Now is not the time to let up. There are important fights on the horizon. We have less than a year to elect a Democrat to the Governor’s Mansion and fight for strong Democratic leadership up and down the ballot in every corner of our state. If we’re going to change the face of leadership in Texas, we’re going to need you with us every step of the way.

We’re fighting to get more people healthcare and create more good jobs for hardworking folks across our state. We’re fighting to make sure every Texas family has a real chance to get ahead. And Friend, we’re fighting for each other. Because we know a better future is possible. And it’s worth every scrap of effort. It's an honor to be in this fight with you.

I’ll be thinking of you and this incredible community as I celebrate tomorrow. I can’t wait to kick into gear for the work ahead -- together.
