There is some good news in our fight

In the midst of unprecedented challenges we’re facing from a fanatical religious right, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on three things we’re most grateful for here at the Center for Freethought Equality.

  1. The leadership of Jared Huffman (CA-2) and his allies in the Congressional Freethought Caucus, and for his representation of the atheist and humanist community in Congress. We’re working hard to elect and support more Members of Congress to follow Representative Huffman’s lead.
  2. The growth in the number of openly atheist and humanist elected officials at the state and local level, and the establishment of the Association of Secular Elected Officials. We’re fostering this growth so that our government will advance policies based on evidence, reason, and compassion.
  3. The dedication of the people like you, who support the Center for Freethought Equality. We’re facing a highly energized and dangerous movement of White Christian Nationalists who are advancing an anti-democratic, anti-science, racist, bigoted, misogynistic, xenophobic, and homophobic vision for our country, and our work to stop them would not be possible without you.

I’m grateful that together, we are helping to move our country in a safer, saner direction.

However you may celebrate this holiday time period, I wish you health, safety, and happiness.

With gratitude for you.

Ron Millar

Political Coordinator

P.S. Our work depends on the generosity of people like you. Thank you for your support.
