The despicable attacks on our campaign this month serve as a reminder of not just what we’re up against, but why I decided to run in the first place:

We, the People need a leader in the White House. The establishment elite — from Hillary Clinton to her friends and proxies in the corporate media — do not serve us. They serve themselves and their friends in the DC elite; they’re the keepers of the status quo.

I — we — scare them because they know they can’t control us. We cannot be “groomed” by them, by Russia, by anyone. I am running to give the Democratic Party back to the people, to stop engaging in regime change wars and work to end the new Cold War and nuclear arms race for which we have all paid a steep price. I’m running to defend the rights of EVERY American: Our freedoms as guaranteed by the Constitution, the clean air and clean water we need to live, our right to healthcare, education and opportunity.

After the month we’ve had, I’m more grateful than ever for the strength, the fight and the support of this campaign we are running together. At the end of last month, I put aside a couple of hours to check-in with the people who make our movement great. I asked many of them about their greatest source of frustration and their greatest hope for the future. Resoundingly, I heard that people are frustrated with an establishment elite in both parties — and their greatest hope is that we can overturn this status quo by electing leaders who put service above self and people before profits.

I’m taking an hour and a half out of my schedule to call and thank as many supporters as I can get to on the list of people who donate to this email, before the end of the month. Will you be one of them, Jack?

I’ve promised you this before and I will promise it again: I will never choose what’s popular, easy or politically expedient over doing what is right. I’ll never lie to you and I’ll never mislead you. I will always say what I mean and mean what I say. I’m the first female combat veteran to run for president and I’m undaunted by the fight ahead. From speaking out loudly against the military industrial complex and foreign policy establishment, against partisan attacks that only serve to divide us, against the Clinton elite and its allies in the corporate media, against the chickenhawks in leadership who are bringing us closer to war with Iran and nuclear war with Russia and China.

This is our fight to win, Jack, and I’m so glad to have you by my side.
