Dear Friend,

This year we have seen workers stand up to their bosses and say enough. Across the country, we've seen fights for decent wages, benefits, safe and healthy workplaces, and the freedom to collectively bargain to earn a fair return on work. What we've seen in 2021 is just the beginning of us building a world in which worker power is a norm.

In that world, workers have power in the workplace, fair wages with strong benefits, and the ability to command their own destinies. It's a world where sickness and financial hardship are not synonymous because working people have quality healthcare and protection on the job.

In this world, we successfully combat the forces of white supremacy, patriarchy, homophobia, and transphobia, ensuring equality for all people.

At Jobs With Justice, we fight for this world. You can feel the energy in the lives of the worker leaders pushing for an essential workers task force in Harris County, Texas, as part of our Always Essential campaign. That fighting spirit can be found in our Advancing Black Strategists Initiative, where we support Black leaders with the resources they need to organize and lead in their communities. It’s ever-present in the wave of strikes we’ve supported this year, from Portland to Worcester.

If you become a monthly sustainer of $5 or more, you will be eligible for an annual subscription to our new zine, PTO, as our special thank you for supporting the movement.

In this world that we wish to usher in, workers have freedom and leisure to enjoy the finer things, such as spending quality time with loved ones during the holidays. Or even a well-crafted, delectable sandwich by way of some tasty bread. The recipe below, featured in the debut issue of Jobs With Justice’s zine, PTO provides just that:

Enjoy!
