John,
We need your help urgently because Senator Joe Manchin has not committed to voting for the Build Back Better Act, and he’s being cheered on by the Big Money interests, including wealthy Republican donors.
According to the New York Times:
“This month, the billionaire Wall Street investor Kenneth G. Langone, a longtime Republican megadonor who has not previously contributed to Mr. Manchin, effusively praised him for showing ‘guts and courage’ and vowed to throw ‘one of the biggest fund-raisers I’ve ever had for him.’”[1]
What this billionaire calls “guts and courage” is Manchin opposing the first-ever federal paid family leave program, which would allow parents to not have to choose between caring for a loved one and putting food on the table.
Let’s show that people power can defeat Wall Street money. Sign the petition and demand Senator Joe Manchin stop standing in the way of President Biden’s agenda. Demand he vote yes on the Build Back Better Act.
Read Frank’s email below for more details on Joe Manchin’s objections to the Build Back Better Act and how we’re holding him accountable.
Thank you,

Tell Sen. Joe Manchin:
“Stop standing in the way of President Joe Biden’s agenda. Pass the Build Back Better Act, which is 100% paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.”

John,
Standing in the way of President Biden’s agenda is not just every single congressional Republican and the Big Money interests. Senator Joe Manchin still has not committed to voting for the Build Back Better Act―even as it’s 100% paid for by cracking down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats, and by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.
And guess who’s cheering Manchin on? Wealthy Republican donors.
One Wall Street billionaire investor, and longtime Republican donor, said that he’s going to throw Manchin “one of the biggest fund-raisers I’ve ever had.”[1]
Let’s counter Republican Wall Street money with grassroots activism! Sign the petition demanding Joe Manchin stop standing in the way of President Biden’s historic agenda that invests in working families―paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.
Manchin has at least two problems with the bill that passed the House last week. First, he has not disavowed an earlier pledge that he made to some Senate colleagues that he wants to use the $400 billion in revenue that will be raised by the IRS cracking down on wealthy tax cheats to go toward deficit reduction. We believe those funds should be used to help lower the costs of healthcare, childcare, education, housing and more for working families, as proposed in the House bill.
Second, Manchin is opposed to enacting the first-ever federal paid family leave program, as part of this legislation. Paid leave will give a boost to our economy and to working families, allowing more people to return to work―while also having the necessary flexibility to care for oneself and one’s family. And, we know we can afford this when the rich and corporations start paying their fair share in taxes.
A 4-week paid leave program has been estimated to cost a little more than $200 billion over 10 years, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.[2]
If Manchin gets his way and the $400 billion that will be raised from IRS enforcement isn’t put toward critical investments in our future, what else could be on the chopping block in the Senate?
Demand Senator Joe Manchin stop standing in the way of President Biden’s agenda. Sign the petition: Tell Manchin to support the Build Back Better Act, which lowers costs for working families, makes historic investments in fighting the climate crisis, and is paid for by requiring the wealthy and big corporations to start paying their fair share in taxes.
The Build Back Better Act will save people money, lower costs and put money directly into the pockets of working people and families. Together, let’s show that people power can defeat the greedy corporate special interests. Sign the petition today.
Thank you for fighting for a future that includes all of us, not just the wealthy few.
