Dear Friend,

The New York Times just published a scathing exposé of how Senators
Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are taking money from wealthy, right-wing
donors in order to stop the Build Back Better bill.^1

The Times also highlighted Demand Progress’ work on calling out Sinema and
Manchin, showing that our high-pressure campaign is working!

We also know it’s working because the Build Back Better bill that the
House of Representatives just passed reinstated many of the provisions
corporate Democrats tried to kill, like paid family leave. We need to make
sure that our voices are heard throughout the Build Back Better
negotiations in the Senate, so we can defeat Manchin's and Sinema's
efforts to destroy the critical funding package.

Progress and help ensure that the Build Back Better bill stays intact in
the Senate?

The Times article confirms what we’ve known all along—Sinema and Manchin
are not working on behalf of the American people.

In just the past few months, Sinema and Manchin have taken donations from
billionaires across the country who have typically given to Republicans.
One ultra-wealthy donor specifically praised Manchin’s gutting of Build
Back Better and promised to throw “one of the biggest fundraisers [he’s]
ever had” for him.^2

In exchange for these high-dollar donations, these corporate Democrats are
trying to stop extraordinarily popular (and critical!) elements of Build
Back Better, including:

* Extending the monthly child tax payments to families.
* Ensuring all kids have access to early childhood education through
universal pre-K.
* Providing more Americans with the health care we need through Medicare
expansion.
* Building a lot more affordable housing.
* Tackling the urgent threat of a warming planet through bold climate
action.

Let’s be clear: It’s not as if these provisions are popular only with
Democrats. An incredible 66% of all Americans want the Build Back Better
plan to pass.^3 Sinema and Manchin are just not representing their
constituents, and we aren’t going to let them—or anyone else—forget it.

We are facilitating thousands of constituent letters to Congress every day
to tell our representatives: Pass Build Back Better now! Will you donate
to keep the campaign going strong?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll donate $10 to Demand Progress today.

Thanks for standing with us.
