This campaign was always going to be a race between the establishment and the People; between the entrenched political class and our grassroots progressive movement.
I said in my first email that this campaign is going to rely on the support of everyday working people - not on corporate donors or special interests - and that dichotomy could not be on greater display than right now.
The incumbent in Assembly District 24 held his campaign's first fundraiser yesterday and the minimum contribution his wealthy donors made was $500, and they asked for up to $4700 just to be in the same room as their representative! To put that in perspective, $4700 is 85% of what the average family in Assembly District 24 earns in a month!
This high dollar fundraiser occurred right before our end of month deadline - our biggest deadline yet. I don't have a network of wealthy donors who can write four-figure checks but I do have you.
Can you chip in today to show that our grassroots movement is stronger than a movement by and for the wealthy and special interests? Every dollar will help us hit our most important deadline of the campaign!
