We had a great response to our Greening Nottingham campaign, which ran during the COP26 summit in Glasgow, and would like to thank everyone who's shared and replied to *our tweets [ [link removed] ]*about all the support available to reduce business carbon emissions.

Just because the campaign has now ended, it doesn't mean we aren't doing our very best to support local businesses, whatever your needs are, so if your business, product or service helps customers lower carbon emissions or become more sustainable, contact us now, we can link you into the many areas of business support available locally.

Don't miss out! Planning for 2022 webinar
Food & Drink Webinar

According to the Food and Drinks Federation (FD), the food and drinks sector is the largest manufacturing sector in the UK, generating over ?29Bn toward the economy in 2019; if the wider food supply chain is included this grows to ?120Bn for the UK economy. However, the last two years has seen unprecedented disruption to the sector due to on-going issues of BREXIT, Covid19, and more recently driver shortages and wider supply chain issues.

With 2022 fast approaching, Food and Drink Manufacturing businesses need to continue to adapt to the ever changing environment in which they operate... but they don?t need to face these challenges alone!

Join the D2N2 Growth Hub's *Sheridan Chilvers [ [link removed] ]*?to?hear from local business support partners who can provide expert advice and guidance to help navigate the year ahead.

*Big Reading Challenge 2021*

Big Reading Challenge

From Monday 22 to Friday 26 November, Nottingham City Councillors will once again attempt to read as many stories to as many children as possible, to raise funds for the Imagination Library: an amazing scheme that delivers a free book every month to local children from birth up to 5 years of age.

This scheme not only ignites a love of reading; it?s proven to improve the literacy skills of our City?s children, getting them ready for school, helping them achieve more in their journeys through education and, in turn, be more successful in their working lives.

Any help your business can give to support with fundraising for the Imagination Library will be much appreciated.? ?

You can also support by sponsoring a Nottingham child, so they, too, can benefit from this scheme. No matter how small a donation is gifted, it will make a real difference.

* ?25 pays for a new book every month for one local child for one year
* ?125 pays for a new book every month for one local child from birth to age five
* ?500 pays for four local children to go through the Imagination Library scheme

Donate to this year?s Big Reading Challenge [ [link removed] ].

BT Street Hub 2.0 launch in Nottingham
BT Street Hubs

BT is donating up to ?7.5 million of outdoor advertising space to small businesses across the UK, as part of its roll-out of new Street Hub 2.0 units ? which help build the UK?s digital infrastructure and include services such as digital advertising screens and ultrafast Wi-Fi.

Local businesses in Nottingham are being given the chance to advertise for free on the new Street Hub units, with *nominations open now [ [link removed] ].*

BT is calling local businesses and the public to encourage them to nominate local firms who could benefit from the offer.

The launch comes as a new BT study found that more than 60 per cent of small businesses agree that local advertising would help to increase awareness of their business, with 40 per cent saying it would encourage more people to shop at their local high street.

Street Hubs can also help to enhance digital connectivity and services for communities through features such as free mobile device charging, access to an emergency call button, charity helplines, and local wayfinding via an integrated tablet.

*Have your say on a new pedestrian and cycle bridge*
New pedestrian and cycle bridge

A consultation is underway on proposals for a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Trent.

Fully funded by a Government grant from the Transforming Cities Fund, which aims to connect people with employment opportunities via sustainable transport, this will be the first new bridge over the river in Nottingham in more than 60 years, opening up safer and more direct routes for people walking, cycling and running.

Spanning from Trent Basin, Colwick on the north bank, to the Lady Bay area on the south bank, the bridge will be a really important part of our infrastructure, connecting existing cycle routes and improving access to green spaces. It will also support developments such as the Waterside Regeneration Zone and Island Quarter, and help to alleviate traffic pressures by making it easier to travel sustainably.

We?re pleased to be working on this in partnership with Rushcliffe Borough Council, and would encourage people to check out the new images of the bridge.

Have your say before 28 November on the Waterside Bridge webpage [ [link removed] ].?
