After many months of preparatory work, and after two weeks of discussions, the COP26 Global Climate Summit concluded with the declaration of the "Glasgow Climate Pact". But even it admitted that:
"We can now say with credibility that we have kept 1.5 degrees alive. But, its pulse is weak and it will only survive if we keep our promises and translate commitments into rapid action.
We must now move forward together and deliver on the expectations set out in the Glasgow Climate Pact. It is up to all of us to sustain our lodestar of keeping 1.5 degrees within reach...“
Join us on Monday 29th November 19.00-20.00 to hear from Zack Polanski, London Assembly Member for the Green Party, who attended COP26 in his role as Chair of the London Assembly Environment Committee:
- What was really achieved at COP26? Did it deliver a credible and just path to staying within 1.5 degrees?
- What do we need to do now across London to ensure that our local councils and the Mayor take rapid action?
Look forward to seeing you there!
