Hi John,

With one week until our end-of-month fundraising deadline hits, we wanted to update you on some recent news clips we're circulating here at HQ.

1. Historically, the President's party tends to lose seats in the first midterm, and Republicans have only added to their advantage through gerrymandering alone.

2. While the GOP compounds these historical trends through partisan gerrymandering in other states, California lost a congressional district after the Census count which has made things difficult for Democrats here.

3. That means in CA-49, we're contending with both new lines and needing to reach new voters for the first time ever. Election experts predict this could make it much harder for Mike to win re-election.

While these headlines may seem less than promising, Mike's been hard at work delivering for our community. Plus, our year-round field campaign is running strong. We can overcome these redistricting challenges, but our race will be more competitive.

We're just one week from our first major fundraising deadline since these new draft maps emerged. We need to meet the mark to prove we can keep this seat blue.
