Texas grid vulnerable to blackouts during severe winter weather, even with new preparations
According to a new analysis by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), our state’s power grid is still vulnerable to massive outages if we experience a cold snap similar to what happened last winter.
Widespread power outages last February left millions without electricity for several days. You probably remember Ted Cruz hopping on a jet to Cancun, and Texans panned Greg Abbott’s pathetic failure to respond.
Nearly a year later, Abbott still hasn’t fixed the problem.

Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike have expressed concern over Abbott’s inability to manage the power grid crisis. In fact, an October poll showed that only 18% of voters approved of how he handled the issue, with 60% disapproving.
Abbott deserves to be held accountable for keeping his constituents left out in the cold, and it could happen again this coming winter.
