Winning the White House and razor-thin majorities in Congress in 2020 wasn’t the end of the work, it was the beginning. Increasingly, each election is “the most important election of our lives” because the stakes are just that high. Democrats have made progress this year—passing the American Rescue Plan to provide COVID relief, approving COVID vaccines for people age five and up, and passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to rebuild and expand our roads and bridges and protect our environment—but there’s still a long way to go on issues from voting rights to abortion access to immigration, and the 2022 election will determine if we take a step forward or three steps back. Republicans are even more motivated now because they’ve seen what happens when Democrats organize and come together to mobilize voters.
A Republican party that promotes the Big Lie, that acquiesces to former President Trump, goes out of their way to make it harder for Black, brown, and young people to vote, weaponizes diversity, and attempts to stop children from learning about the accurate and often painful realities of our history is an enormous threat to our democracy. But, there are always reasons to be hopeful. There are Democrats currently in office and running in races around the country who want to fight for voting rights, health care access, better schools, climate justice, gun violence prevention, and more. Yes, there are some places where partisan gerrymandering makes Democratic wins challenging, but there are still places where we can make real gains. That’s why I do this work, and I’m proud to have you on our team.
There’s so much at stake in 2022, and we’re excited to be out there doing this work alongside you. Right now, we need your support so we can continue to lay the groundwork for success next year. Will you chip in to our final fundraising push of the year?
