We’re excited to celebrate our Fall 2021 Medicare for All Leadership
School graduates! Take a look:

These 30 volunteer leaders in the Medicare for All movement have spent the
past two months building their skills and completing hands-on training to
become even more effective organizers in their communities.
They completed workshops, trainings, group projects, and virtual events in
their communities that have already made a tangible difference in our
fight for Medicare for All.
With this session of the Leadership School officially complete, we asked
our graduates if they had anything to share about the program. In just a
moment, we’re going to share their thoughts — but first, we’d like to
share an opportunity with you.
If you or someone you know is interested in inspiring action and becoming
a more effective volunteer leader for Medicare for All in your community,
please consider joining our third cohort of the Medicare for All
Leadership School next year.
To get more information and to be the first to know about the next
application window, [ [link removed] ]please fill out our NNU Medicare for All Leadership
School Interest Form here.

Once you register, we’ll be in touch in early 2022 with more info on the
next application deadline!
Now, let’s take a look at what our amazing graduates had to say about the
program!
“I wanted to thank you for the most incredible use of our time. I have
never seen so much concentrated information in such a digestible format,
and there was not a single moment that we spent here that was wasted.” -
Patty Clark
“I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you. You have given me the
opportunity to learn, to teach, the opportunity to learn new skills, to
know what this is all about. And now that I’m retired…I am ready to go
full blast! This has been awesome, and I can’t wait to get started!” -
Paula Lyn, RN, CNA/NNOC Board of Directors
“Management sent our bedside nurses into the battle against Covid without
masks and gloves…without the equipment that [we] needed. What I feel about
this school is that NNU is showing how you prepare an army to fight the
virus of lack of health justice. And you have done that with history,
lessons, learning, strategy, and camaraderie. It’s a stark difference
between the nurses' approach to making things happen, and management’s
abuse of nurses at the bedside.” - Minette Blandon, RN, NNU member
“I come from marginalized communities that really need our work, that
really need our support, and to get on board. So I really am excited to
take what I’ve learned from this and move it forward, and show that health
care is a human right; health care is something that everybody needs.” -
Kamilah Harris
“I wouldn’t have missed a class for the world. I feel so incredibly
grateful for this class…to be surrounded by people who are working
together towards a common goal. I’ve gained a lot of confidence and
courage.” - Lori Bernstein
The program requires a commitment of about 5 hours per week, and people of
color, women, and those with firsthand experience with our broken health
care system are especially encouraged to apply.
By taking part in our Leadership School, you’ll receive trainings,
workshops, be part of group projects, and get to implement what you’ve
learned in a hands-on fashion with the direct support of our staff. And,
you’ll make lots of new friends who share your level of commitment to
health care justice!
We’re so proud of the work our graduates have done and will continue to do
to advance the Medicare for All movement — [ [link removed] ]and
we hope
you’ll sign up to receive more information and apply for our next
Leadership School Cohort when the window opens.
Thanks for celebrating with us — and again, to our amazing graduates:
Congratulations! 🎉
