Ohio’s GOP is uninterested in democracy. For months on end, Republicans have resorted to lies and conspiracy theories to justify their losses in last year’s election, and now, they have their revenge.
As midterms approach, they’ve seized the opportunity to gerrymander maps and deny the will of the people. These maps give the GOP a huge advantage and will make it nearly impossible to challenge Republicans over the next decade.
On Saturday, Republican Governor Mike DeWine broke his promise to the people of Ohio and signed the latest gerrymandered map into law. Republicans now stand to win twelve of Ohio’s fifteen Congressional seats, unless we stop them.
Voters want to pick their elected officials at the ballot box, not have politicians in Columbus pick the voters they want. The people of this district will not go unheard. Democrat Marcy Kaptur is continuing the push for fairly drawn maps and representation in government. Voter suppression has no place in Ohio, and we won’t back down until every eligible voter has a fair chance at the ballot.
