Being a new immigrant to the US is challenging, regardless of circumstances. New language, new community, new culture, new ways of doing things. How do you call for help? What do you do if you get sick?

Now, imagine you are a pregnant asylum seeker. These are special immigrants – most have severe trauma from their home country, and from their escape and migration. Many are very far along in their pregnancies and could give birth any day. Very few clinics in the US are interested in taking on a patient of this type, so late in their pregnancy, who have received minimal or no prenatal care. In addition, few of these patients know how to even find care.
Every day, our Health Network Associates pick up the phone and call pregnant asylum seekers. They make the connection. They welcome them to the United States, find where they're traveling to, make sure they are well, and connect them to care. It can take dozens of phone calls to find a clinic that will take such a patient – and our Health Network Associates put in the hours to do just that.

You can support our Health Network Associates in their life-saving and life-changing work. You can support the health of a pregnant asylum seeker. You can welcome this new family to our country.
