Dear John,
Here’s the good news: New American elected officials are gaining power and setting previously impossible pro-immigrant agendas.
Your investment in New American leadership made all the difference.
In Nevada, NAL alumni and State Assemblymembers Rochelle Nguyen and Cecelia González were the primary sponsor and cosponsor, respectively, of two bills enforcing the rights of English language learners and limiting immigration enforcement in schools, hospitals, and other settings. In Colorado, the governor signed a dozen pro-immigrant bills. Many were sponsored by NALpistas such as State Sen. Julie Gonzales, State Rep. Naquetta Ricks, and State Rep. Yadira Caraveo.
Your belief in NAL’s vision of a more inclusive democracy has created real transformation for immigrants, women, and working class families.
New cohorts of New American elected officials will begin their tenures in New York City, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Dearborn, Michigan, and beyond.
Please donate this Giving Tuesday (November 30th) to ensure our advocates in office leave a lasting progressive legacy!
Yours in the fight,
Michelle Munjanattu
